This question whether the use of computers or any device with a monitor is harmful to the eyes or not has repeatedly been raised.
The answer is that use of such devices can slightly increase the rate of dry eye symptoms, but the fact that whether they affect eyesight or retinal photoreceptors has not yet been proven. It should be noted that the widespread use of electronic devices has been common during the past 15 to 20 years and further research should be conducted to achieve better results. I recommend people who are prone to dry eye to use artificial tears when working with a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
