Since its inception, Noor Subspecialty Eye Hospital has been provided the most advanced and complete intraocular surgery department and offered high quality diagnostic and therapeutic services to the patients. The intraocular surgery department is located on the third and fourth floors of the hospital and included 9 rooms with the following facilities and equipment:

Phacoemulsification Machines

Phaco machines are manufactured by Alcon, Abbott and Dorc companies. Phaco machines can be used for vitrectomy. Different types of Phaco machines are as follows:

1. The Alcon LauREatE Phaco Machine

2. The Alcon INFINITI® Vision System OZil® Intelligent Phaco Machine

3.The Alcon Constellation Vitrectomy Machine

4. The EVA Phaco-Vitrectomy Machine, (DORC)

*The EVA Phaco-Vitrectomy Machine is one of the cutting-edge phacoemulsification machines and it was used for the first time in Iran at Noor Eye Hospital.

5. The Whitestar Signature PRO Phacoemulsification System (Abbott Medical Optics Inc.)

*This highly advanced machine has different features that a surgeon can use each one of them according to the different conditions of the eye.

Retinal Laser Devices

In addition to the phacoemulsification machines, the intraocular surgery department of Noor Eye Hospital has the most advanced retinal laser devices, which are used in vitrectomy.

-CPC Device: It is the latest and most advanced retinal and glaucoma laser device used for treating patients with glaucoma who have elevated eye pressure. The device is able to control the intraocular pressure using a very accurate 810 nm laser.

Ceiling-Mounted Surgical Microscopes

Accurate performing of intraocular surgery depends on high-precision surgical microscopes, in addition to the knowledge and skill of ophthalmologists. The intraocular surgery operating rooms of Noor Subspecialty Eye Hospital are equipped with a complete set of ceiling-mounted surgical microscopes.

-ZEISS OPMI LUMERA 700 and S800: these devices are the most advanced German made surgical microscopes from Zeiss which provide an outstanding anterior view for the surgeon. In addition, these microscopes are capable of recording surgery processes and are used for educational and research purposes, live surgical performances and etc.

Surgical Beds

Noor Eye Hospital utilizes the most modern and best ergonomic surgical beds. Using these beds, most patients of the intraocular surgery department, who are usually middle-aged and elderly and suffer from movement disorders or complications such as leg, neck and back pain, can comfortably undergo eye surgeries. In fact, on arrival to the intraocular surgery department, the patient is placed on the surgical bed and undergoes all procedures, including pre-operative examinations, surgical procedure and post-operative recovery, without relocation and is eventually transferred to a bed in the inpatient department.

Technical Features of Surgical Beds

- They are full-electric and equipped with a 12V battery (no risk of power outages and burns due to non-use of direct power).

- They have the ability to adjust and control in different modes for ease of the patient and surgeon.

- They can withstand patient weights of approximately 150 kg.

- They are made based on the ergonomic principles and rules.

Monitoring and Anesthesia Care

This unit is responsible for monitoring the vital signs of the patient, including breathing, blood pressure and heart rate, ECG and capnography monitoring.

Note: To comply with the latest validation guidelines, capnography monitoring is essential for patients who have spent more than three hours under general anesthesia.

Typically, all medications that the patient needs, such as painkillers are administered by an IV, a small tube that is placed into one of the patient’s veins, usually in the back of his/her hand or in his/her arm. Usually eye surgeries are done under local anesthesia, using anesthesia eye drops. But in some of eye surgeries such as strabismus or vitrectomy, or about especial candidates of eye surgeries such as children, people with Alzheimer's or people with phobia from surgery, the eye surgery can be done under general anesthesia if it is not prohibited for the patient.

All of the hospital's intraocular surgery operating rooms are also equipped with a syringe pump for injecting medications based on the surgical program and anesthesia protocol.

Anesthesia Machines

Noor Subspecialty Eye Hospital utilizes the most advanced German made ceiling-mounted Drager anesthetic machines. All of these machines are calibrated over a six-month period of service due to their high sensitivity and importance, and are tested once a year. To prevent disruption of the treatment process, if the stationary anesthesia machines do not function properly, the portable anesthesia machines will be used.

Recovery Department

The recovery department has all the facilities for patient care, and each floor of it is equipped with EKG monitoring and Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) devices. In this department, any changes in the patient's heart condition are monitored by a cardiologist and anesthesiologist, and if the physicians diagnose that the patient needs more cardiac care, he/she is referred to the supportive hospital.

CSSD Department

The CSSD department of Noor Subspecialty Eye Hospital has been utilizing the most complete sterile medical system since two years ago. The department is equipped with two German made Miele 270-liter Autoclave systems, which are regularly monitored daily according to the device guidelines to ensure good quality care and the safety for the patients. In addition, Noor Eye Hospital was the first ophthalmology center to use a plasma device to sterilize expensive and heat-sensitive equipment. The plasma sterilizer is made by Johnson & Johnson Company and is monitored, calibrated and assessed every six months to ensure its performance.

Supply of Surgical Consumables

all required surgical consumables including intraocular lenses can be supplied at Noor Eye Hospital according to the surgeon diagnosis and instruction. In addition to providing comfort and ease for patients, it prevents patients from wandering around the city and its related problems.

The lens clinic of Noor Eye Hospital Lens provides services for people who are reluctant to wear glasses or whose vision cannot be corrected with glasses for any reason.

Soft Contact Lens Prescription Cases

- People who do not like to wear eyeglasses and have regular astigmatism less than three diopters can use soft and soft Toric contact lenses.

- Infants with congenital cataracts will need to use baby soft contact lenses after cataract surgery until they are old enough to receive intraocular lenses.

- People with anisometropia (those with the difference in vision (optical power) between their two eyes) experience better vision with soft contact lenses. Soft contact lenses can be a good option to correct the vision of people with anisometropia amblyopia too.

- Red filtering soft contact lenses can be used as an aid for people with color blindness to correct their vision.

- Soft prosthetic contact lenses are cosmetic colored contact lenses used to cover corneal scars.

- Therapeutic bandage soft contact lenses that are used as bandages after some of eye surgeries.

- Daily disposable soft contact lenses. Since no contact lens care solutions are needed for daily disposable lenses, they are suitable for people who are sensitive to preservatives.

Hard Contact Lens Prescription Cases

- Patients who in addition to myopia or hyperopia have astigmatism more than 3 diopters

- Patients with irregular astigmatism such as those with keratoconus

- Patients whose eyeglasses cannot be corrected their vision after an eye surgery or eye injury

Scleral and Hybrid Contact Lenses Prescription Cases

- These lenses are suitable for people who do not have good vision with glasses and also cannot wear hard lenses. So, all hard contact lenses candidates can use scleral and hybrid contact lenses too.

- People with severe dry eye can also use scleral contact lenses and artificial tears to treat dryness.

The examination and fitting of scleral or hybrid contact lenses, which done at Lens Clinic of Noor Eye Hospital, is too time-consuming and takes about two hours.

Contact Lens Examination Steps

- Keratometry* and Refraction

* Keratometry (K) is the measurement of the corneal curvature. In addition to keratometry, the pentacam may be used for further evaluation of the corneal curvature.

- Fitting the contact lens and determination its optical power

- Providing the patient with helpful guidance and tips for wearing and maintaining the contact lenses

The optical shop of Noor Eye Hospital is equipped with a state-of-the-art eyewear customization machine. But how can a machine choose the best eyeglasses for a person?

First, the eyeglasses wearer is photographed, scanned or otherwise imaged by the machine and then according to the facial structures and other features of the individual wearer the frame of eyeglasses is designed. All the eyeglasses frames of the optical shop of Noor Eye Hospital can be choose in this way.

The frame wrap angle and pantoscopic lens tilt are adjusted according to the receiving data representative of a desired position where the wearer would like an eyewear frame to reside on the wearer's face and a preference for a particular degree of pantoscopic tilt or wrap to the lenses of the eyewear.

After designing the desired frame, the eyeglass frame is produced in Japan according to the designed frame and finally the glasses are sent to the optical shop of Noor Eye Hospital.

Engrave Your Name on your Eyeglasses Frame

You can engrave your abbreviated name to the side of your eyeglasses frame if you wish to have different and unique eyeglasses.

For the first time in Iran, the optical shop of Noor Eye Hospital has utilized the state-of-the-art eyewear customization machine, which is a joint product of the US, Belgium, and Japan.
